Driven by a life-long interest in the role that ethical thinking and leadership can play in improving our world, entrepreneur-philanthropist Marjorie Layden launched the World Ethics and Leadership (WEL) Foundation in 2019. Having previously founded a popular Ethics and Leadership Course at UCSB with her late husband, Marjorie is now pushing further along this path - bringing together ethics and leadership theory and tools with:
the power of new technology
the potential of the next-generation of leaders & activists
influential partners, along with WEL’s own projects
the latest tools of ethical dissemination
to make our world a better place.
Michael Hoffman | Chair
Michael Hoffman is chairman and co-founder of Palamon Capital Partners, LLP. He has served as a chairman, trustee, and/or board member for countless organizations, including the British-North American Committee, the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs Advisory Board, and The Shakespeare Globe Theatre. He holds degrees from Harvard, Columbia, and the University of Texas.
Paul Harding | Senior Advisor
Paul Harding is an Honorary Associate of Jesus College Cambridge and focuses on global issues and existential risk. He organised the Cambridge Global Conversations event on Climate Ethics (supported by the WEL Foundation) in July 2019. Paul has a background in non-profit work, finance, political-risk consulting, and production, and spent more than 13 years in Beijing, China. In China, Paul served as Executive Producer for the State Department / Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported Booey Lehoo Concert in the Beijing Olympic Arena. Under Pseudonym, Paul wrote regularly for The Diplomat and Newsweek (Jpn), and in 2014 co-founded Zihua, one of China’s largest online training platforms for the creative industries.
Morgan Sheil | Senior Advisor
Morgan is a chemical & biomolecular engineer. She recently completed graduate study in Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge, and is now attending Harvard Business School. Her research has included how stock markets can be used to tackle climate change.
